Affirmative Prayer Week of 3/3/19

The following is a transcript of Rev. Brian Akers’ closing affirmative prayer on Sunday, March 3, 2019:

Please join me in this affirmative prayer.  Because what I know is that right here and right now there is a Power that is so complete and so whole that it has literally imparted itself into every living thing in existence.  And in doing so it has given just a measure of Its Divinity to each of us in this room.  And so we are one with It because we are It. It is in us and in recognizing Its presence in us we commune with It by meeting each other in spirit.  And that’s what we do here.  Today has been a grand demonstration of how we come together and how we meet God through one another, as one another in only the way that we can, because we woke up and chose to do so.  And in choosing the Divine in all of Its magnificence, It chooses with us and so we are safe, we are loved, we are healed and we are healers in this moment.  And so I make myself available to this spiritual community fully, I am vulnerable entirely, I am trusting all of my divinity to this community.  And as I do that, it calls me to want to get to know them better, and that might mean showing up in study and in might mean showing up in celebration like I am here today, but it also might mean showing up and goofing off.  It might mean showing up and having coffee.  It might mean showing up and just doing the simplest of things together, knowing that as we do that we are embraced by the Divine Presence that God is.

I’m so grateful to know this Truth that I just accept it all.  I let it wash over me and let myself receive every drop, thanking every blessing that appears, knowing that every one of them is Divine.  And so as I let this go and I let it be, I know that not only am I attuned to this great, wonderful love of spiritual community, but that God lives and moves and brings about an even grander sense of what that means to me, brings it into this community in whatever ways it can show up, brings it into my work community, brings it into my biological family, my families of choice, brings it into the world with strangers in greater ways.  It reveals Itself as the opportunity to be in spiritual kinship with every living being because I know this Truth.  And so I let it go and I let it be, as myself, as this day, as this moment knowing that it is already done.  And together we say, “And so it is!”  Amen.  Thank you everyone!
