Affirmative Prayer Week of 12/9/18

The following is a transcript of Rev. Brian Akers’ affirmative prayer, 12/9/18:

Please join me in this affirmative prayer.  Because what I know is that one Love, that one Life, that one Light that is God, is good. And in all of Its goodness, It has afforded the world something powerful and magnificent and brilliant and that something is me and each of us.  And in us, as us and through us, an invitation has been made for something to express – we know it, we can sense it,we can feel it deep within us.  And so in this moment, we embrace Its presence – that deep desire to be love and compassion in the Universe and in the world and in our lives and in our own mind.  We embrace it so fully and so completely that we deny power to any voice in our mind that would try to distract us from it.  Anything in our mind that would seek to judge us or to judge It or dismiss Its power is cast out now and is cowering in the light of this prayer and the light of this Truth. I feel it and I know deep in my bones my faith in God is marrow deep!  And so as we arrive today we do so in gratitude to accept all of that good, accept all of those blessings, accept all of that power of love through the measure of our faith and we are cultivating in this prayer right now on the spot, right here in this moment, and in doing so, we can be nothing but unceasingly grateful.  I am so grateful to receive this Truth, this life, this world, this season, this spiritual community, this philosophy, this knowing that right now is surrendered to a Law. I do not need to make it all happen, I need is to make myself happen!

And so what I know is that in this prayer I pray knowing that it is all in the hands of the Divine and as I close this prayer I recognize that what is mine to do is in my hands and that everything necessary in order for me to be what is mine to be is present and ready and available and already expressing.  It is my life, it is this moment and every moment beyond, it is who and what I am, and I am here as It as It is here as me.  And together we say,and so it is!
